The Pen is Mightier than....

Here is an old cartoon from the files, something photocopied from somewhere years ago and pinned up over the the desk or outside the cube in the studio you were working at the time...

Still says a lot.

But anyone know the artist?
Here's the signature but I can't read it.. it's not Searle or Sempe

Now what's going on.. can't upload a picture the right way up....
OK,how bout some delishus layouts from Wind Wagon Smith..shown in class last week as part of inspirationslashreference as part of their latest project that they have the choice of three different time periods -this being the Old West...

Well, that was an interesting experiment, but I really want the slideshow to show up at the side. Can't seem to figure it out.
back to just posting pix for the next while....

HERE'S a sketch about drawing with so called style - the thing is , everyone is doing all this so called flat style, but how many can back it up with real drawing. When today's flavour goes out of fashion, will they have something to fall back on? I maintain, you got to have the real deal underneath, know you can draw it for real, before you can do an artful job of cartooning it.
I should talk, my drawing is the pits these days and I'm faking it much of the time, but I know it.
